Dental Insurance and Payment Options for Humber College Students

We work with private plans, student coverage, and government programs, and we handle the claim and paperwork.

We Accept Most Insurance Plans

We accept most major private and workplace dental plans, including Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, and others. Before any treatment, we confirm what your plan covers and explain what you need to pay out of pocket.

No Insurance? You May Still Be Covered

You may have no private plan and still qualify for government-funded dental care. These programs help cover treatment for residents who meet their requirements:

Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP): For Canadian residents without private insurance who meet the income and eligibility rules.
Ontario Works: Dental coverage for adults and families receiving Ontario Works assistance.
Healthy Smiles Ontario: Free dental care for children and youth 17 and under from eligible households.

Humber College Student Insurance (IGNITE)

Full-time Humber students are covered under the IGNITE Health & Dental Plan. Bring your student benefit details to your visit; we’ll submit the claim for you. We bill the insurer directly for covered services, so you just pay for anything the plan doesn’t include.

Direct Billing to Your Insurer

When your plan allows it, we bill your insurer directly. This eliminates the paperwork and the wait for reimbursement.

Checkups and Cleanings

A routine visit includes an exam and a professional cleaning, plus x-rays, when they’re needed.

Coverage: Commonly covered under your student dental plan.

Dental Fillings

We use tooth-coloured composite fillings to treat cavities and rebuild the damaged part of the tooth.

Coverage: Your student dental plan may cover all or part of the cost, with only a small co-pay remaining.

Root Canal Treatment

When the pulp inside a tooth becomes infected or inflamed, root canal therapy is a solution to remove the pain and save your natural tooth.

Coverage: Coverage varies depending on your student plan.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth often start causing trouble in your late teens and twenties, right around student age. We assess whether yours needs to come out and remove it if it needs extraction.

Emergency Dentist Near Humber College North Campus

We hold room in the schedule for same-day and walk-in emergencies like toothaches, swelling, broken teeth, and knocked-out teeth. Students and staff can be seen quickly and get back to campus. Call us and let us know you’re in pain.

A Multilingual Team

Our team speaks English and Persian, and we’re used to helping students who are new to Canada’s dental system, including making sense of coverage and claims for the first time.

Dr. Vida Siar (Farokh-Siar)

Licensed to practise in Ontario through the NDEB equivalency process in 2013. Dr. Siar focuses on cosmetic dentistry, implants, orthodontics, and full-mouth rehabilitation, with additional training in laser dentistry. She is registered with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) and speaks English and Persian.

Dr. Mahvareh Akhgar-Araghi

Licensed in Ontario since 2016 with a practice limited to children, she has over 20 years of experience caring for young patients. RCDSO registered (#110023); member of the Canadian Dental Association and Ontario Dental Association. She speaks English and Persian.

Dr. Ardeshir Ranjbari

Board-certified in Periodontics (MSc), Shahid Beheshti University; Fellowship in Laser Dentistry, RWTH Aachen, Germany. With more than 20 years of clinical and teaching experience, he practises with a focus on periodontics and implant surgery. RCDSO registered (#150456); member of the Canadian Dental Association and Ontario Dental Association. He speaks English and Persian.
